Penang – Singapore VTL Travel Starts On 16 March 2022!

On 4 March 2022, the governments of Singapore and Malaysia announced that the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) programme would expand to include Penang.

From Wednesday, 16 March 2022 onwards, fully-vaccinated travellers in both countries will be able to fly between Penang and Singapore on approved airlines, without undergoing any mandatory quarantine.

Initially, there will be four flights per day, shared equally amongst the participating airlines.

The Penang-Singapore route will be the second VTL programme to be approved in Malaysia. The KL-Singapore route, which was approved in November 2021, brought in 82,906 passengers from Singapore as of 28 February 2022.

The government of Malaysia also announced that VTL flights to and from Bangkok and Phuket in Thailand, as well as Phnom Penh in Cambodia will begin “very soon”.
