Malaysia just announced that the entire state of Sabah will be placed under CMCO lockdown starting 13 October 2020!
Entire Sabah : CMCO Lockdown Starting 13 October!
Several areas in Sabah have already been placed under lockdown – Lahad Datu, Tawau, Kunak and Semporna under Administrative EMCO; while Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and Putatan were placed under CMCO.
However, due to the large number of new cases, the Malaysian National Security Council today decided to order a CMCO lockdown of the entire state of Sabah.
This CMCO lockdown of Sabah will take place at 12:01 AM on 13 October 2020, and last until 26 October 2020.
Sabah CMCO : Lockdown Restrictions
Here are the CMCO lockdown restrictions for Sabah that Malaysia Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced today :
- No one is allowed to enter or leave the areas under CMCO lockdown.
- Cross-district travel is forbidden, except those with valid work passes or authority letters from their employers.
- Only two persons from each household is allowed to go out to purchase daily necessities.
- All schools, institutions of higher learning, vocational training institutes, kindergartens, day care centres, tahfiz centres, public parks and recreation centres must close.
- Mosques and other religious houses of worship must close.
- All sports, recreational, social and cultural activities, including weddings, are forbidden.
- Entertainment centres and night clubs are forbidden to open.
- All other economic activities within Sabah are allowed to operate as usual, but must comply to the new SOP restrictions that will be revealed later.
- Wholesale and daily markets are allowed to open from 6 AM until 2 PM.
- Groceries and convenience stores are allowed to open from 6 AM until 6 PM.
- Restaurants, cafes and food stalls are allowed to open from 6 AM until 6 PM. However, only drive-through, delivery and take-away purchases are allowed.
- Pharmacies and drugstores are allowed to open from 6 AM until 6 PM.
- Clinics and hospitals are allowed to operate 24 hours.
- Petrol stations are allowed to open from 6 AM until 6 PM.
- Taxis and e-hailing rides, as well as food deliveries, are allowed from 6 AM until 8 PM.
- Buses and express buses are not allowed to operate.
- Fishing and farming activities are allowed.
- Factories and businesses must obtain permission from the Sabah Disaster Management Committee. to continue operating.
COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!
Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :
- Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
- Avoid public events and crowds
- Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
- Keep our home, office, vehicles, etc. clean
- If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
- Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
