Rejoice, Star Wars fans of Malaysia! The Star Wars Malaysia Fan Club is proud to announce that Star Wars Day Malaysia 2016 will land on 30th April to 1st May 2016 at The School, Jaya One, Petaling Jaya.
Star Wars Day 2016
After the success of May The 4th Be With 2 2015, this year’s event will be bigger than ever. A result of a collaboration between various Star Wars fan clubs and groups collectively known as the Star Wars Malaysia Alliance, this year’s festivities will revel in the afterglow of Star Wars Episode VII : The Force Awakens, as well as serve as the jumping point to our Rendezvous With Rogue One : A Star Wars Story.
Spearheaded by the Official Star Wars Malaysia Fan Club, is going to be an event to remember. Starting at 10 am with the opening ceremony on April 30th, and closing at 6 pm on May 1st, will turn The School, Jaya One into Star Wars in celebration of May 4th, World Star Wars Day.
Other members of the Star Wars Malaysia Alliance that will be present include Asia Brick, Brick Sanctuary, Outpost Productions (charity auction), Fightsaber Malaysia, Lightsaber League Malaysia (LLM), Force Arts Stunt Team (F.A.S.T.), and STAR WARS: X-Wing & Armada Malaysia.
There will be appearances by Star Wars characters, lightsaber performances, and several panels discussing the different aspects of Star Wars fandom in Malaysia. We will have a special appearance from a life-sized BB-8, as well as incredibly talented local artists such as Alan Quah (Marvel, DC), Jon Tham and Regina Ong giving their take on Star Wars art.
Visitors can also learn about the X-Wing Miniatures table-top game, join the mini-treasure hunt, test their knowledge during the trivia competitions, and swing a lightsaber at the lightsaber school. In a first for Star Wars Day Malaysia, there will also be a massive food truck bonanza too!
There will also be a charity flea market chock full of (almost) any piece of Star Wars memorabilia that you could possibly ask for. SWMFC shall also be collecting donations on behalf of four charities – Rumah Solehah, House of Love, Yayasan Chow Kit and Klang Utara Children’s Home.
“The Star Wars fandom in Malaysia is one of the most passionate in the world. With the breadth and depth of activities that we’ve got planned for visitors, there’s a little bit of Star Wars for everyone that comes by!” said SWMFC President, Syed Rafie.
May The Force Be With You, and see you at Jaya One!
