Dirty Tempe Factory In Batu Caves Shut Down!
On Tuesday, 21 July 2020, an 5-member team from the DBKL Food Quality Unit inspected a tempe factory in the IKS Batu Caves Industrial Park, after receiving a public complaint.
They discovered that this tempe factory was unhygienic, shutting it down under Section 11 of the Food Act 1983, based on these reasons :
- the cleanliness of the premise was unsatisfactory
- raw materials were placed on the floor
- food preparation was conducted on the floor
- the floors were wet and dirty with food waste
- the walls of the food preparation area was black with dirt
- the food handlers (four foreign workers) were not vaccinated against typhoid
- the food handlers did not wear any head covering, apron or shoes while preparing tempe
- the equipment were dirty and in poor condition
- food coverings were dirty and not replaced
- recycled paint containers were used for food preparation

PEMERIKSAAN SANITASI DAN PENUTUPAN KILANG MEMPROSES TEMPE
Ekoran daripada aduan awam yang diterima, Unit Kualiti Makanan, Jabatan Kesihatan dan Alam Sekitar DBKL hari ini, 21 Julai 2020 (Selasa) telah membuat pemeriksaan terhadap mutu pengendalian sebuah kilang tempe yang terletak di kawasan Perindustrian IKS Batu Caves, Kuala Lumpur.
Pemeriksaan telah dilaksanakan oleh 5 anggota petugas bermula dari jam 10:00 pagi. Hasil pemeriksaan mendapati:-
- Tahap kebersihan premis tidak memuaskan;
- Bahan mentah dan penyediaan makanan di atas lantai;
- Lantai basah, kotor dengan sisa makanan serta dinding tempat penyediaan makanan kotor berdaki hitam;
- Pengendali makanan (seramai 4 orang warga asing) tidak mempunyai suntikan tifoid serta tidak memakai penutup kepala, apron dan kasut semasa mengendalikan makanan;
- Peralatan serta kelengkapan pemprosesan makanan dalam keadaan kotor dan usang;
- Kain alas makanan tidak diganti dan menggunakan tong cat terpakai dalam kerja-kerja pemprosesan makanan.
Sehubungan dengan itu, tindakan Perintah Penutupan Premis di bawah Seksyen 11 Akta Makanan 1983 berkuatkuasa 21 Julai 2020 telah dikeluarkan.
