The Tesco 100th Anniversary Scam Exposed (Short Version)

I Got Fooled! What Should I Do?

Don’t panic. It does not appear that they stole anything from you… yet. But they have already collected your credit card information, and personal information.

  1. Call up your bank and immediately void the credit card payment.
  2. Check your credit card statements, and dispute any payment from RadiUniverse and OrganizeJobs, or those you deem suspicious.
  3. If possible, ask your bank to cancel the credit card you used in this payment, and issue a new one.
  4. Write an email to support@organizejobs.net to cancel your free trial. Keep a copy of the email you sent, as evidence that you have already requested to be removed from their “free trial”.
  5. Be VERY CAREFUL about any future offers or warnings by email or messages from even trusted sources like your banks or friends. Remember – these people now have your personal information!
  6. BE VERY CAREFUL if you receive phone calls from people who claim to be from a bank or some other trusted institution (police, Bank Negara, etc.). NEVER call them back on their number. ALWAYS GOOGLE for the official contact numbers, and call them directly to verify.
  7. Write to abuse@internet.be to report that the xn--tsco-lu5a.com domain is being used to facilitate a scam.
  8. Write to abuse@namesilo.com to report that the tesco.com.a-free.win domain is being used to facilitate a scam.
  9. Write to abuse@namecheap.com to report that the amazing-deals.pw domain is being used to facilitate a scam.
  10. Write to abuse@namecheap.com to report that the organizejobs.net domain is being used to facilitate a scam.
  11. Write to abuse@godaddy.com to report that the radiuniverse.com domain is being used to facilitate a scam.

The Tesco 100th Anniversary Scam In Detail

The victims received this message about the Tesco 100th anniversary celebration from their friends or family members (you will find out why at the end).

It even looks authentic – with a proper Tesco link… or so it seems. If you type that URL into a web browser, all you will get is an error message :

That link is fake, It hides the real link to www.xn--tsco-lu5a.com/free-vouchers/.

That’s not even the real website. It redirects you to www.tesco.com.a-free.win/free-vouchers/. This is where you see the offer for a RM 250 voucher.

There is also a counter that shows the remaining vouchers steadily reducing in number. This was inserted to add some authenticity, and a sense of urgency.

You will be asked to answer a simple survey of four questions :

At the end of this survey, you will be asked to forward this offer to 20 of your WhatsApp contacts :

Unfortunately, you can’t just claim the voucher. It will refuse to allow you to move forward unless you forward it to 20 of your unfortunate family and friends.

Clicking on the WhatsApp link will call up WhatsApp. Do NOT share this offer with anyone on WhatsApp!

After WhatsApp loads, you can actually return to the scam page and click on Claim Voucher.

It will load the amazing-deals.pw/0m/myt.php page, which won’t load properly. Instead, you will be asked to complete an offer for a free iPhone at amazing-deals.pw/flipp/offerp/myiph.php.

Clicking on that link will lead you to at landing page at radiuniverse.com, where you’ll be asked to fill in your details in order to qualify for an iPhone X at just $1. If you think this is an amazing deal, then you are a real fool.

Hidden at the very bottom of a very long page is this agreement (in dark gray, no less!) where you agree to SUBSCRIBE to their organizejobs service for US$ 49.99 per month.

If your greed got the better of you, you will fill in your details and click Proceed. Then, you will be asked to fill in your credit card details to pay $1 for the iPhone X. Note that you are not just paying for the iPhone X, you are also paying for the “Free Trial”.

But don’t expect to receive the iPhone X anytime soon.

Hidden in the fine print is also the notice that they are only giving out ONE iPhone X every month. So you are paying $1 for the chance to win this lottery.

This is what you get for being greedy and foolish!
