The Tom Hanks COVID-19 Coronavirus Death Hoax

The article that went viral was titled Breaking: Coronavirus Claims Life Of Tom Hanks, and it was posted by The Daily Star, which also goes by the name news24.

The story claims that a Queensland Health spokeswoman confirmed that Tom Hanks passed away on Friday night from complications related to the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Tom Hanks COVID-19 Coronavirus Death Hoax Debunked!

Reason #1 : They Are Both In Stable Condition

On Friday, 13 March 2020, the Queensland Health spokeswoman specifically shared that Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, are both in stable condition.

Reason #2 : Tom Hanks Shared That They Are Both Fine

On Friday, 13 March 2020, Tom Hanks shared this picture of himself with Rita, both looking well despite their COVID-19 diagnosis.

He specifically mentioned that COVID-19 could lead to a very serious illness for others, implying that he was definitely not in any danger for his life.

This was followed by a picture of a toy kangaroo and two slices of toast with Vegemite on 15 March 2020 :

And most recently, on 18 March 2020, he shared this post – one week after being diagnosed with COVID-19 – noting that they are both well and have no fever.

Reason #3 : No Legit Media / Press Has Reported It

The writer claimed that a Queensland Health spokesperson announced Tom Hanks’ death.

Yet a quick Google search will reveal that no other media outlet has published a story about his purported death, even.
