Travel + Certain Activities FORBIDDEN Across Malaysia!

Late at night on 8 May 2021, Malaysia Senior Minister for Security Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaacob announced that travel and certain social, educational and business activities will be forbidden across Malaysia!

These restrictions will begin on Monday, 10 May 2021 and are scheduled to end on Sunday, 6 June 2021.

  • All interstate and inter-district travel are FORBIDDEN across Malaysia, except with police permission.
  • Social, educational and economic activities that involve gatherings or public crowding are FORBIDDEN.
  • Official, social and face-to-face activities by both government and private sectors are FORBIDDEN.

It is currently unclear what the Minister meant by social, educational and economic activities that involve gatherings or public crowding.

That statement seems overly loose and open-ended. Hopefully, the government will make it clear what that means very, very soon.

These restrictions also blur the lines between MCO, CMCO and RMCO. Effectively, there’s very little to differentiate them.
