Truth : Ukrainian Rapper Did NOT Give Nazi Salute At Eurovision 2022!
The truth is – this is yet more FAKE NEWS created by Russia or pro-Russia netizens, and here are the reasons why…
Fact #1 : Vast Majority Of Ukrainians Are Not Nazis
First, let me address the Russian disinformation campaign that attempts to paint Ukraine as a country of Nazis.
Ukraine was one of the countries in the Soviet Union that was invaded and conquered by Nazi Germany when they launched Operation Barbarossa.
It was estimated that about 5.2 million Ukrainian civilians lost their lives in World War 2, some of which were relatives of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy is also Jewish, which makes Russia’s claim even more preposterous – over a million Ukrainian Jews were murdered during the German occupation.
Yes, Ukraine has a neo-Nazi political party called Svoboda, but it only garnered 2.15% of the popular vote in the 2019 election results.
Even the neo-Nazi Azov battalion was small, even after it was absorbed into the Ukrainian National Guard and expanded into a regiment. Only 10% to 20% of its members identify themselves as Nazis.
Ultimately – the vast majority of Ukrainians are not Nazis, despite what Russia claims.
Fact #2 : Oleg Psiuk Was Waving, Not Giving Nazi Salute
While the camera angle appears to show Oleg Psiuk hold up his hand, he was not giving a Nazi salute.
A video from a different angle showed that his arm was bent at the elbow, and his fingers were splayed out.
Conclusion – Psiuk was waving to the crowd, not giving a Nazi salute.
Many pro-Russian and pro-CCP netizens are sharing the video and false claim on WhatsApp, Telegram, Twitter and Facebook.
