After shutting down Chong Brother Bean, the KL City Council (DBKL) just shut down a disgusting yong tau foo factory, after discovering the TERRIBLY unhygienic conditions there!

Disgusting Yong Tau Foo Factory Shut Down!

On Friday, 19 June 2020, DBKL conducted a sanitation inspection of a yong tau foo factory, located at Jalan Brunei in Pudu, 55100 Kuala Lumpur.

They ordered the factory shut down with an Unsanitary Premise Closure order according to Section 11 of the Food Act 1983, after discovering that :

  • a cockroach infestation
  • dirty, stained walls and floor in the food processing area
  • a lack of cleaning equipment
  • there was no effort to clean the floor
  • cooked food was left exposed
  • the freezer was dirty and untidy
  • raw materials were being stored in unsanitary conditions

PEMERIKSAAN SANITASI DAN PENUTUPAN KILANG MEMBUAT YONG TAU FU

Pemeriksaan dan lawatan oleh Unit Kualiti Makanan, Jabatan Kesihatan dan Alam Sekitar DBKL telah dilaksanakan pada 19 Jun 2020 (Jumaat) di sebuah premis memproses makanan di Jalan Brunei Selatan, Pudu 55100 KL.

Hasil pemeriksaan yang dianggotai oleh seramai 6 orang petugas mendapati keadaan premis mempunyai urungan lipas, lantai serta dinding proses penyediaan kotor dan berdaki hitam, tiada menyediakan tempat pencucian peralatan dan kerja mencuci di atas lantai, makanan yang telah dimasak terdedah, freezer kotor dan tidak kemas dan tempat penyimpanan bahan mentah dalam keadaan kotor.

Sehubungan dengan itu, tindakan Penutupan Premis Tidak Suci, di bawah Seksyen 11 Akta Makanan 1983 berkuatkuasa 20 Jun 2020 telah dikeluarkan.

Kudos to DBKL for cracking down on this unsanitary factory, and shaming them online like this.

Let this be a lesson to other food preparation companies. Please maintain good hygiene at your facilities!
